(June 25, 2009 Stillwater, OK) – Each year Oklahoma State University (OSU) invites OSU legacies, ages 7 to 14, and their grandparents to campus for a learning experience called Grandparent University. One of 13 majors offered, OSU’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences welcomed 18 grandchildren and 17 grandparents on June 18 and 19, 2009. Among those guests were the grandchildren of alumni Drs. John Kirkpatrick (’65), Harold Miller (’60), and D. C. Smith (’70) and the daughters of Dr. Craig Jones (’89). |

(June 18, 2009 Stillwater, OK) – The Oklahoma State University Center for Veterinary Health Sciences announced today that Yujie Guo, graduate research associate in its Lundberg-Kienlen Lung Biology and Toxicology Laboratory (LBTL), received a predoctoral fellowship from the American Heart Association. Guo’s proposal is to investigate mechanisms of acute lung injury and respiratory distress syndrome. The funding is for two years and totals $50,000. |

(May 13, 2009 Stillwater, OK) – Do you have a newly diagnosed diabetic cat? Jill D. Brunker, DVM, Diplomate ACVIM, Small Animal Internal Medicine, at Oklahoma State University’s (OSU) Center for Veterinary Health Sciences, is looking for up to 16 newly diagnosed diabetic cats for a clinical trial using a human drug. To qualify for the study, cats must be naïve diabetics and cannot have been treated with any diabetic management modalities. |

(December 2, 2008 Stillwater, OK) – In collaboration with OSU, Elanco Animal Health, a Division of Eli Lilly and Company, is seeking horses afflicted with Equine Cushing’s Disease also known as Pituitary Pars Intermedia Dysfunction (ECD/PPID) to participate in a research study. OSU is recruiting cases of ECD/PPID to document the efficacy and safety of pergolide in support of FDA approval. An FDA approved pergolide product for horses afflicted with ECD will assure the access to and the uniformity and quality of a pergolide therapy for horses in the United States. |
