The Barren Mare Program was initiated in the early 1990's under the guidance of Dr. Steve Slusher.
He has since retired from OSU, but the program continues under the direction of Dr. Reed Holyoak. Our focus is to provide clinical diagnostics, treatments, and controlled breeding management for older barren mares to assist them in conceiving and carrying their pregnancy to full term. This is both a clinical service we offer to our clients as well as an ongoing clinical research program. Some of the treatments offered may not be along traditional lines, it is therefore imperative to develop a strong client-veterinarian relationship and discuss treatment options before embarking on any course of therapy. Interested clients are asked to contact us to discuss the possibility of including their mare(s) in this program. |
