February is Dental Health Month for Pets and People

Proper dental care is as important for pets as it is for humans. Left untreated in animals, periodontal disease can cause bad breath and major teeth problems. Treatment of these problems can often be costly.

Prevention is the key to keep your pet’s mouth clean and bright. Dr. Paul DeMars will present “How to Keep your Pet's Breath Fresh and Smile Bright” at the next community Pet Care Seminar on Tuesday, Feb. 6, in McElroy Hall Auditorium beginning at 7 p.m. Proper dental care involves both home care and at least a yearly oral exam by a veterinarian. Following the presentation, Dr. Lyndi Gilliam will demonstrate teeth brushing techniques on Zip, an Australian shepherd mix dog.

Pet Care Seminars are open to the public. Parking, admission and light refreshments are complimentary. McElroy Hall is located at the corner of McFarland and Farm Road on the Stillwater campus. For additional information, contact the Continuing Education Office at (405) 744-7672.
