Dr.  Suzanne Caruso (1999) of Veterinary Associates in Tulsa tests her  palpation skills. STILLWATER, Okla.—Representatives from the Oklahoma State University Center for Veterinary Health Sciences recently participated in the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association’s 93rd Annual Convention and Expo in Tulsa, Okla.

Veterinary Center faculty presenting at the conference included:

  • Robin Allison, DVM, Ph.D., Diplomate American College of Veterinary Pathologists
  • Paul DeMars, DVM, Diplomate American Board of Veterinary Practitioners
  • Lyndi Gilliam, DVM, Diplomate American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine - Equine
  • Reed Holyoak, DVM, Ph.D., Diplomate American College of Theriogenology, Bullock Professorship in Equine Theriogenology
  • Michael Lorenz, DVM, Diplomate American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, Dean of the OSU Center for Veterinary Health Sciences
  • James Meinkoth, DVM, Ph.D., Diplomate American College of Veterinary Pathologists

In addition, these OSU Veterinary Center alumni presented programs at the conference: Drs. Rocky Bigbie (1981), Billy Clay (1970), Dennis Crow (1997), LeMac Morris (1980), and L. Gene Parker (1988).

In the Exhibit Hall, approximately 100 alumni, staff, students and guests visited the Veterinary Center’s booth. Conference attendees received information on curriculum, admission requirements, ongoing projects, and funding opportunities. Many people purchased a black, white or orange special edition polo shirt in commemoration of the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine’s 60th Anniversary in 2008. Alumni also were eligible to participate in door prize drawings. Drs. Cody Golay (2006), Rick Hufnagel (1991), Dan Merkey (1968) and James Sewell (1958) won either a Veterinary Medicine sweatshirt or a stadium blanket.

During “Game Night” attendees were able to play a cow palpation game by identifying the objects inside a cardboard cow.

Winners received their choice of a blinking OSU Pistol Pete or a Veterinary Center mouse pad.
Pistol Pete was on hand for photographs and the Dean’s office took a moment to pose with the famous OSU Cowboy.
