Veterinarians Honored at OVMA Annual Convention

STILLWATER, Okla.—Several Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine graduates were honored at the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association’s (OVMA) 93rd Annual Convention and Expo held recently in Tulsa, Okla.

Dr. Pat Edmonds (1982) of Morris, Okla., received the Food Animal Practitioner Award. Dr. Mike Schoonover (2000) of Goldsby, received the Equine Practitioner of the Year Award. Dr. Cade Coppenbarger (2004) of Marlow, Okla., was chosen as the Young Veterinarian of the Year. The President’s Award was given to Dr. Billy Clay (1970) of Stillwater. Dr. Marvin Denny (1961) of El Reno, Okla., received the Veterinarian of the Year Award.

Dr. Keith Flanagan (1978) of Port-au-Prince, Haiti, was awarded the Distinguished Service Award. His career has taken him abroad to Haiti where he provides veterinary and mission services to Haitians, including animal health training.

Dr. Charles Eisenhour (1977) of El Reno completed his duties as OVMA president and passed the torch to Dr. Ron Mollett (1974) of Bethany, Okla., who will lead the organization in 2008. The OVMA’s mission is to advance excellence, professionalism, education and ethics in veterinary medicine.
