(May 4, 2009 Stillwater, OK) – At the Oklahoma State University (OSU) Center for Veterinary Health Sciences’ 2009 Annual Awards Banquet, Jered Wendte of Choctaw, Okla., was among those honored.
Wendte received the Dean Harry W. Orr Award for $2,500. The award was established in honor of the college’s second dean and recognizes Wendte’s high academic achievement during the first two years of the professional veterinary curriculum. Wendte was unable to attend the banquet as he is currently working as a visiting scientist at the National Institutes of Health, completing his year as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute funded scholar and preparing to start his PhD research. Wendte graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.S. degree in Zoology and is the son of Steve and Sharon Wendte of Choctaw, Okla.
The Oklahoma State University Center for Veterinary Health Sciences is one of 28 veterinary colleges in the United States and is fully accredited by the Council on Education of the American Veterinary Medical Association. The center’s Boren Veterinary Medial Teaching Hospital is open to the public and provides routine and specialized care for small and large animals.
