What are PDF files and how do I view them? STANDS for Portable Document Format. It's a distribution format developed by the Adobe Corporation to allow electronic information to be transfered between various types of computers. The software which allows this transfer is called Acrobat. In order to view and print one of our PDF files, you will first need to download and install a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader. Acrobat Reader is currently available for DOS, Windows, Macintosh, and Unix. Acrobat reader is available at no cost from the Adobe Web site. Be sure to pick up the installation instructions while you're there. The instructions tell you how to install Acrobat Reader and how to set it up as a helper application in a variety of Web browsers.
