(August 18, 2009 Stillwater, OK) – Dr. Dianne McFarlane, Physiological Sciences Department at Oklahoma State University’s (OSU) Center for Veterinary Health Sciences, recently attended the NIA Summer Institute of Aging Research. This NIA course is designed to facilitate early career investigators in achieving a successful independent career in aging research.
A small group of participants were selected to attend this course, which is completely funded by NIA and other sponsors. Participants had an opportunity to meet with NIH administrators, grant program officers, scientific review officers, as well as established researchers in gerontology.
The Oklahoma State University Center for Veterinary Health Sciences is one of 28 veterinary colleges in the United States and is fully accredited by the Council on Education of the American Veterinary Medical Association. The center’s Boren Veterinary Medial Teaching Hospital is open to the public and provides routine and specialized care for small and large animals.
