Dr. Edwin “Eddie” D. Fisher, Class of 1963, passed away on Oct. 28, 2008. While tending to a herd of cattle, he was mauled by a 3,000 lb. bull. He sustained extensive injuries too severe to overcome.

Fisher received his DVM degree from Oklahoma State University in 1963. He started his veterinary medicine career in Claremore, Okla., and then moved to Tulsa, Okla. In 1965, he and his family moved to Winfield, Kan., where he spent the next 43 years practicing veterinary medicine at the Winfield Veterinary Hospital. In 2006, he received an OSU College of Veterinary Medicine Alumni Association Distinguished Alumnus Award.

He was active in veterinary organizations, community service and his church. He was a member of the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine Alumni Association and served as its first president. Fisher is survived by his wife, Dorothy, daughter Jennifer Legako (Mike) and grandchildren Megan and Lindsey of Winfield; daughter Kari Galliart (Mark) and grandchildren Clayton and Emily of Stillwater, Okla.; and his sister, Bonnie Muegge (Don) of Lamont, Okla.

Dr. Eddie Fisher was a wonderful veterinarian, a true gentleman, and an avid OSU fan and supporter. He will be truly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
