Green Country Arabian Horse Association Establishes Scholarships

Ms. Velma Boodt and Mr. Arthur Byrd with Green Country Arabian Horse Association present the first two scholarships to College of Veterinary Medicine students Skeet Gibson (right) and Jennifer Grimes (left). The Green Country Arabian Horse Association recently established a scholarship fund for the OSU Center for Veterinary Health Sciences. Eligible veterinary students must be in their third year of study and demonstrate proficiency in equine medicine and surgery.

The first recipients of the scholarships were awarded at the Veterinary Center’s recent Annual Awards Banquet. Mr. Arthur Byrd and Ms. Velma Boodt presented the awards to Skeet Gibson and Jennifer Grimes. Each student received a certificate and $1,250. Gibson is originally from Washington, Okla., and Grimes is from Waller, Texas.

The OSU Center for Veterinary Health Sciences awarded more than $208,100 at this year’s banquet thanks to generous donors such as the Green Country Arabian Horse Association.
