The primary mission of the veterinary teaching hospital is to educate the veterinary student regarding 1) the art and science of clinical veterinary medicine; 2) the importance of professionalism and ethics in the veterinary profession; 3) the daily reality of the human-animal bond and 4) the responsibilities of the veterinarian to the pet or animal owner, as well as the public in general.
In addition, the VTH is committed to providing the most up to date and state of the art patient care. It is our mission to serve the client with the utmost compassion and concern for their pet or animal’s problem, and to also serve as a source of support, outreach, and assistance to the referring veterinarian.
Successful accomplishment of our mission requires 1) faculty members to serve as role models for our students 2) clients who allow us the additional time required to teach our students 3) referring veterinarians who support our teaching program through the referral of their clients and patients to our hospital. Without these three components, our mission could never be accomplished.
