Veterinary Center Hosts Open House

This biannual Open House provides the community and potential veterinary students a first hand look at the services available at the State’s Veterinary Center.

On March 30 and 31, 2007, the OSU Center for Veterinary Health Sciences opened its doors to the public. This biannual Open House provides the community and potential veterinary students a first hand look at the services available at the State's Veterinary Center.

The Center for Veterinary Health Sciences includes the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital and the Oklahoma Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory. Exhibits and live demonstrations were offered daily. A special "Teddy Bear Surgery" on Saturday gave young children an opportunity to don surgical garments and assist a 3rd year veterinary student as he/she repaired torn stuffed animals to the delight of their young owners.

One of the little visitors is learning surgery techiniques during the Teddy Bear Surgery.

"More than 2,000 visitors toured the facility and gathered healthcare information from the demonstrations and exhibits,”"says Dr. Michael Lorenz, professor and Dean of the Center for Veterinary Health Sciences. "Open House gives the community an inside look at the many educational and research programs that are an integral part of the Veterinary Center."
