World Rabies Day PDF Print E-mail

Human rabies is 100 percent preventable. However, an estimated 55,000 people die from rabies worldwide. The majority of victims are children and nearly all those affected live in poverty. You can help prevent rabies by participating in the first World Rabies Day on Sept. 8, 2007.

Jennifer Moreno (2009) is coordinating a 5K Race for Rabies at Boomer Lake on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 8 a.m. The entry fee is $20 and includes a T-shirt (make checks payable to SCAVMA). All are welcome to participate. Dogs can accompany their owners with proof of current rabies vaccination and leash. Prizes will be available. Download the Race for Rabies 5K for Here.

All proceeds will be donated to The Alliance for Rabies Control. Participation in the campaign makes OSU eligible to win a full day symposium by international rabies experts and makes OSU students eligible to apply for a two week internship at a rabies field site in Africa.
