MS Degree
- The MS may be earned with 30 credit hours beyond a bachelor’s degree or 21 hours beyond the DVM or equivalent degree including required coursework:
- VBSC 5013 Veterinary Biomedical Sciences I: Cell and Molecular Biology
- VBSC 5023 Veterinary Biomedical Sciences II: Pathophysiology
- STAT 5013 Statistics for Experimenters I
- VBSC 6110 Seminar
- VBSC 5000 MS Research and Thesis (not more than 6 credit h)
- Participate in research laboratory rotations and/or select thesis advisor
- Select thesis advisory committee (minimum 3 members)
- Develop Plan of Study including required and elective coursework
- Complete required and elective courses to meet credit h requirements
- Conduct MS thesis research project and write MS thesis
- Present public seminar and defend MS thesis
PhD Degree
- The PhD requires a total of 90 credit hours beyond the bachelor’s degree or 60 hours beyond the MS degree or DVM or equivalent degree, including required coursework:
- VBSC 5013 Veterinary Biomedical Sciences I: Cell and Molecular Biology
- VBSC 5023 Veterinary Biomedical Sciences II: Pathophysiology
- STAT 5013 Statistics for Experimenters I
- STAT 5023 Statistics for Experimenters II
- VBSC 6110 Seminar
- VBSC 6000 PhD Research and Thesis (up to 45 credit h)
- Participate in research laboratory rotations and/or select thesis advisor
- Select thesis advisory committee (minimum 4 members)
- Develop Plan of Study including required and elective coursework
- Complete required and elective courses to meet credit h requirements
- Pass written and oral qualifying exam and present research topic to thesis advisory committee
- Apply for Admission to PhD Candidacy
- Conduct PhD thesis research project and write PhD thesis dissertation
- Present public seminar and defend PhD thesis
