(July 10, 2012 Stillwater, OK) – Oklahoma State University Center for Veterinary Health Sciences is pleased to welcome Kelci McKeirnan, DVM, of Stillwater as a clinical instructor in small animal surgery. Dr. McKeirnan has just completed a three year small animal surgery residency at the center’s Veterinary Medical Hospital and accepted the offer to stay on.
McKeirnan came to OSU after earning her DVM degree from Washington State University in 2007. Here she completed a one year small animal medicine and surgery rotating internship followed by one year of an American Board of Veterinary Practitioners residency before beginning her small animal surgery residency.
“The timing was right,” explains McKeirnan. “It’s a one year position that will give me an opportunity to finish up my board certification in small animal surgery and I really enjoy working here.”
Dr. McKeirnan joins two surgeons already on staff—Drs. Danielle Dugat, Lecturer, and Mark Rochat, Small Animal Surgery Section Chief.
“We are delighted to have Dr. McKeirnan join our small animal surgery team. Kelci performed exceptionally well as a Senior Resident and we look forward to the great things she will do as a faculty member. We are confident in her abilities as a teacher and as a surgeon,” says Dr. Reed Holyoak, interim director of the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at OSU’s veterinary medical hospital.
The Oklahoma State University Center for Veterinary Health Sciences is the only veterinary college in Oklahoma. One of 28 veterinary colleges in the United States, it is fully accredited by the Council on Education of the American Veterinary Medical Association. The center’s Boren Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital is open to the public and provides routine and specialized care for small and large animals. It also offers 24-hour emergency care and is certified by the American Animal Hospital Association. For more information, visit www.cvhs.okstate.edu or call (405) 744-7000.
