(November 8, 2011 Stillwater, OK) – Each year Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences welcomes 82 new veterinary students—56 from across Oklahoma and 24 from all corners of the nation. These bright, eager to learn young people spend the next four years working toward their professional goal. They also become involved in various student organizations, such as the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Association of Bovine Practitioners, or the American Animal Hospital Association to name three of approximately 18 different organizations. One particular group spends countless hours volunteering in and around the Stillwater community—Alpha Psi Fraternity.

(October 20, 2011 Stillwater, OK) – Rehabilitation isn’t just for people anymore; pets can benefit from rehabilitation services, too. The Oklahoma State University Center for Veterinary Health Sciences is excited to announce that the veterinary hospital now offers rehabilitation for animals. Laura Moorer, a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner, is now on staff at the center’s veterinary hospital.

(October 27, 2011 Stillwater, OK) – Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences will host the 3rd Annual Lundberg-Kienlen Lectureship in Biomedical Research on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 3:30 p.m. in the McElroy Hall Auditorium. Presenting “Mechanisms of Lung Innate Immunity during Infection” will be Joseph P. Mizgerd, Sc.D., professor of medicine, microbiology and biochemistry and the director of the Pulmonary Center at Boston University School of Medicine.

The Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences is offering a seminar that speaks directly to the issue of a mid-life preventative health program designed for aging dogs and cats. Dr. Andrew Hanzlicek will present “Pet Mid-Life Crisis” on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. in the McElroy Hall Auditorium located at the corner of Farm Road and McFarland on the Stillwater OSU campus.

(October 13, 2011 Stillwater, OK) – Two veterinarians at Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences are now offering a new service to veterinary patients. Drs. Jill Brunker and Drew Hanzlicek have completed training and can now place tracheal and urethral stents in patients who can benefit from this procedure.
