During the awards program, six with ties to Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences were recognized for their contributions to veterinary medicine in Oklahoma.

(February 1, 2011 Stillwater, OK) – Heather Rhoden, a first-year veterinary student at Oklahoma State University's Center for Veterinary Health Sciences, has been accepted into Cornell University's Leadership Program for Veterinary Students. Rhoden is one of 27 veterinary students, from a pool of 58 applicants, who will attend the 10-week program.

(January 25, 2011 Stillwater, OK) – Two second-year veterinary students at Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences were recently commissioned into the United States Air Force. Performing the swearing in ceremony for Catherine Morris of Layton, Utah, and Erin Way of Tuttle, Okla., was fellow third-year veterinary student Matt Kren of Chesapeake, Va. Kren was commissioned just last year.

(December 21, 2010 Stillwater, OK) – Dr. Shane Porter is a 2010 graduate of Oklahoma State University’s Center for Veterinary Health Sciences. He is one of 62 rural veterinarians who will receive awards totaling nearly $6 million to repay their veterinary school loans in return for providing veterinary services in areas experiencing a veterinary shortage.
