The Animal and Veterinary Sciences Department of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona currently is expanding a rapidly growing department and is seeking a veterinarian with an expertise focus in companion animals; the position is tenure track. The department currently has 8 faculty and 4 lecturers. The department has recently modernized its curriculum to serve over 910 undergraduates and approximately 20 graduate students; the new and recently accredited Animal Health Sciences (AHS) program has rapidly grown to more than 200 students. The department's largest student population is interested in pre-veterinary science and animal health science, but the department also provides curriculum tracts in animal nutrition, physiology/reproduction, biotechnology, and animal industry & business. Candidates must be committed to teaching, scholarly work and service in a multicultural environment.


The position: Assistant or Associate Professor of Animal & Veterinary Sciences, Tenure-Track Primary responsibilities are in the Animal Health Science option of the Animal & Veterinary Sciences Department. Teaching duties will include undergraduate/graduate courses complementary to the Animal Sciences and Animal Health Sciences curricula including courses and laboratories in veterinary anesthesia, surgical assisting, laboratory procedures, radiology, clinical pathology, clinical anatomy, and pharmacology. The successful candidate will also be involved in providing clinical services in the Animal Health Care Center. Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
- Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in California (California has new, more inclusive reciprocity laws for licensing veterinarians from out of state. For additional information on California licensing visit the California Veterinary Medical Board web site at www.vmb.ca.gov)
-Clinical training and experience with companion animals.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for teaching students.
-Willingness to work and collaborate with research faculty and to work in a clinical practice setting.
- New or recent graduates that have successfully procured their license to practice in California are encouraged to apply.

Desired Qualifications:
- Three (3) or more years of clinical experience with companion animals that utilized registered veterinary technicians as an integral part of the animal health team.
- Previous experience in training and management of veterinary staff.
- Clinical experience in small animal medicine and surgery.
- University experience in teaching.
- Successful scholarship, including research & grant writing experience.
Compensation Salaries are competitive and based on experience
