| Job Description | Dear Prospective Veterinarian, Cobb Veterinary Emergency and Referral Clinic (CEVC) is seeking applications for a staff emergency and critical care veterinarian to care for canine, feline, avian, reptilian, and other exotic animal species. Our company prefers internship-trained individuals due to the advanced experience and training acquired through a rigorous internship environment. At our primary clinic, we are a 24/7 emergency, secondary, and tertiary critical care facility located in the northwest metro area of Atlanta, GA. We relocated our second facility, Cherokee Emergency Veterinary Clinic (CHEVC), in October 2006 to our newly constructed stand-alone emergency/referral building, which has been featured through the GVMA and DVM Magazine (05/08) as one of the most progressive practices in the field of veterinary medicine. This facility is currently a night and weekend emergency clinic; however, once the growth of the surrounding area and clientele permits, we will expand our services to 24/7 at this clinic as well. Our combined caseload exceeds 13,500 cases per year. We utilize state-of-the art medical equipment and pharmaceuticals in conjunction with a well-trained staff to provide a progressive, evidence-based medicine approach to our affluent clientele. EKG telemetry, defibrillator, ventilator, doppler/Dynamap blood pressure and CVP monitoring devices, electrocautery, I-131, I-stat analyzers, PT/PTT SCA2000 units, and external thermal support units are just a few items in our diagnostic and therapeutic arsenal used to provide the best critical care possible to our patients. We are the largest non-university emergency/referral clinic in the southeastern United States with a 15,000 square foot main facility and 8500 square foot sister facility. We employ 12 full time emergency/critical care doctors, of whom the majority are internship-trained and all have significant emergency/critical care experience. We are associated with nine specialty service veterinarians that are all located in our main building. Specialty services include surgery, internal medicine, ophthalmology, and dermatology. We are actively negotiating specialty services at our CHEVC facility to adjunct the emergency & critical care and surgery services that are already established. This is an excellent environment to gain additional skills and knowledge for those in pursuit of a residency, as time can be spent with the specialists during time off from the emergency service. We are looking for individuals that are versed at handling the high volume, fast-paced environment of a team-based approach to caring for our patients. I am confident that our cases will challenge even the best of veterinary professionals. A competitive salary, benefits, 401K-retirement plan, paid vacation time, and a moving expense allotment are all part of the introductory package for highly qualified and compatible candidates. Atlanta is a rapidly growing international city that offers a multitude of opportunities to pursue extra-curricular activities. Some of the city’s many attractions include excellent fine dining, theaters, museums, symphony, concerts, clubs, and professional sporting events. The area also allows those interested to pursue a variety of outdoor activities to include fishing, hiking, bicycling, boating, camping, etc. The city has a very low cost of living/housing when compared to other cities of its size. The city’s low unemployment rates as well as being a major international business center make a career move for significant others or family members easy.
