Our little town of around 2500 is located within three hours of Lincoln, Nebraska and four hours of Denver, CO for those of you who need a big city “fix” from time to time. Our two doctor mixed animal practice is seeking at least one more full-time associate to help us keep up with the growth our area has been experiencing. We’re ready to offer a new graduate a great mentoring opportunity (we’ve mentored several in the last 20 years) but would also welcome the knowledge of an experienced practitioner. We’re not your typical small-town practice with regards to the equipment we offer our associates. We sit on six acres and our small animal facility was built in 1994. On the small animal side we offer:

· In-door Large Animal Facility (40 x 40 Large animal enclosed hospital – power washing, concrete floor, own septic system)

· Obstetrical Unit for calving

· Two portable chutes to take to the country – one is hydraulic

· Calf Cradle (Able to fit on a portable table for ranch calls)

· Two hydraulic Chutes – One at each of the livestock auctions we attend (Monday and Thursday)

Equipment and staff allow us to practice great medicine, but what is truly unique about our practice is the attention we pay to ensuring the success of new associates. Our decision to add additional associates is a studied one, and we are confident that the market is ready for us to expand. A practice in a neighboring town is about to close its doors, which provides us the opportunity to expand on the number of clients we already serve in a 14 county radius. We’re offering the right candidate(s) an opportunity to practice great food animal medicine, while also dabbling in small animal work. Our caseload is about 25% small animal and 75% large animal. Our large animal work breaks down into about 20% stockers/backgrounders, 5-8% feedlot and the rest is cow/calf. Our average herd size is 130-140 head (up from about 60 head several years ago), and we also work two sale barns.

Our practice “specialties” are:

· Repro work

· Diagnostic investigation and problem solving on large herds

· Feed analysis to improve operations

Our plan for a new veterinarian is to immerse him/her in all aspects of the practice as well as allow you to explore and grow your own areas of interest. Technical skills are important, especially in the area of palpation and breeding soundness, but soft skills such as communication are equally as critical. We can teach technical skills, but we can’t teach a passion for veterinary medicine and serving our clients.
