| Job Description | The College of Veterinary Medicine of University of Georgia is seeking nominations and applications for the position of Director of the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH). The Hospital Director has overall responsibility for the strategic vision and management of the VMTH, works closely with clinical department heads and service chiefs in developing budgets and hospital policies and procedures, and addresses matters pertaining to hospital personnel. The Director reports to the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine. The VMTH has an annual operating budget of over $10M and treats approximately 20,000 animals each year. Specialty services include Small Animal Internal Medicine, Small Animal Critical Care, Small Animal Soft Tissue and Orthopedic Surgery, Rehabilitation and Physical Therapy, Medical and Radiation Oncology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Zoological Medicine, Neurology, Critical Care, Community Practice, Anesthesia, Large Animal Internal Medicine, Large Animal Surgery, Large Animal Ambulatory, Theriogenology, Diagnostic Imaging, and a 24-hour Small and Large Animal Emergency Service. In addition, the VMTH is the primary clinical teaching laboratory for over forty residents and interns and over one hundred 4th year veterinary students. The successful candidate must have a DVM degree or equivalent, board certification in a clinical discipline, and experience working in a teaching hospital in an academic institution. A post-DVM degree and advanced administrative experience and/or training are desirable. The successful candidate will hold a faculty position in the department appropriate to their specialty disciple and an academic rank commensurate with his or her experience. The Director is expected to actively participate in hospital activities.
