| Job Description | ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF SMALL ANIMAL SURGERY The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track or clinical track faculty position in Small Animal Surgery. Duties will include teaching and clinical service in the Small Animal Surgery Section of the Boren Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, didactic lectures and laboratory instruction for veterinary students, and scholarship appropriate for the position. A DVM degree or equivalent and qualification for licensure to practice in Oklahoma are required. Board certification by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons is highly desirable; however, individuals who have completed residency training are encouraged to apply. The Boren Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital is a “state of the art” facility. Available specialty equipment includes: fully equipped DRE veterinary Aeron and OP System operating tables; Biomedtrix cemented and cementless total hip arthroplasty instrumentation; IMEX circular and linear external skeletal fixation equipment; Dyonics 2.7 and 1.9 arthroscopy and 4.0 laparoscopy/thoroscopy equipment; Synthes internal fixation equipment including 3.0 and 4.0 cannulated screws, LCP, LC-DCP, and maxillofacial plating systems; Innovative Animal Products interlocking nail 4.0 through 8.0 equipment; Aaron Bovie cautery units; US Surgical stapling equipment (T/A, LDS, GIA, endoGIA roticulator; OEC 7700 C-arm; operating microscopes; in-house 4 slice CT scanner; nuclear scintigraphy; off-site MRI at Stillwater Medical Center, Kistler force plate; and the largest and most complete biomedical laser laboratory in the US, including CO2, Argon, Ho:YAG, Nd:YAG, KTP, and a fully-certified laboratory. Professional rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Center is cognizant of the economics associated with academic careers and has devised a hospital practice plan and other methods that provide opportunities for faculty income enhancement. In addition, each faculty member is allowed 22 days of paid annual leave and 2-days/month for outside consulting activities that comply with College conflict of interest guidelines. Stillwater is a town of approximately 45,000 residents where the positive attributes of a small town are combined with many amenities and opportunities usually found only in larger cities. Additionally, Oklahoma is a state of friendly people, numerous outdoor activities to enjoy, and two uniquely different large cities (Tulsa and Oklahoma City) within an easy hour’s drive of Stillwater.
