| Job Description | The Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital and Department of Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University is seeking applications from qualified individuals for a position as a Large Animal Emergency Clinician (LAEC). This position is 80% clinical service and limited lecture and laboratory teaching responsibilities. The emphasis of the position will involve responsibility for equine surgical emergencies.Kansas State University is a land grant institution with a student population of approximately 23.000. Classes at the KSU College of Veterinary Medicine are composed of 110 students annually with a strong alumni and referral base including both Kansas and neighboring states. Kansas State UniversityCollege of Veterinary MedicineClinical Assistant ProfessorLarge Animal Emergency ClinicianThe Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, Kansas State University, invites applications for a clinical, 1 year, renewable appointment as a Large Animal Emergency Clinician (LAEC). The LAEC will provide after hours and emergency service and teaching to the Equine and Agricultural Practices Sections of the KSU-VMTH. The emphasis of the position will involve responsibility for equine emergencies. Candidates must hold a DVM degree or equivalent. The candidate should have completed a residency in large animal surgery. Candidates who are eligible for certification or are Board Certified as a Large Animal Surgeon by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons will be given preference. The LAEC will be responsible for supervising the management of all emergency and after hours medical and surgical cases, presented to the VMTH large animal clinic. In addition, the LAEC will be responsible for overseeing senior students and technical staff caring for equine and agricultural patients after hours. Senior faculty will provide consultation and back-up assistance to the LAEC. This position includes a clinical appointment of approximately 80% and limited lecture and laboratory teaching responsibilities.
