| Job Description | The School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (SVMBS), University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) invites applications for a Beef Cattle Clinical Veterinarian. This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-leading position, 50% teaching, 25% research and 25% scholarly service appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. This appointment will be at the Great Plains Veterinary Educational Center (GPVEC) located in Clay Center, Nebraska. Reporting responsibilities are to the Director of the GPVEC and to the Director of the SVMBS. Salary will be commensurate with experience and accomplishments. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and research related to food animal herd health, production management and welfare in livestock enterprises, with emphasis on economically and environmentally sustainable production. The individual will participate in providing veterinary services for the livestock at the U.S. Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC). The individual will work closely with the livestock industry leaders and various veterinary groups in providing current information relative to activities at the Great Plains Veterinary Educational Center and then to the Director of the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, the Dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources and the Dean and Director of the Agricultural Research Division, for purposes of program planning, work plans, reporting and evaluations. |
| Qualifications | DVM or equivalent, and 5 years practice experience in food animal medicine and excellent communication skills (oral and written). Preferred qualifications: An advanced degree and/or board certification in a related area and experience teaching veterinary students and working knowledge of livestock production systems and husbandry. |
