Job Description

The Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Texas A&M University, is seeking applicants for a Lecturer in Food Animal Medicine and Surgery. This nontenure-track position is for one year and starting March 1,2011 or sooner. The major responsibility of this faculty member will be to provide patient care to patients admitted to the Food Animal Medicine and Surgery Service of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The lecturer will share in the emergency duties with other Food Animal faculty members. Some laboratory or didactic teaching may be required and scholarly activity will be encouraged.

The caseload is primarily beef cattle and meat goats with some camelids, sheep and pigs. Salary will be based on experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will also be eligible for benefits provided by the state of Texas.

Qualifications Qualifications include a DVM or equivalent degree and at least 1 year of post-DVM training in Large Animal Medicine or Surgery. Residency training, certification in the ACVS, ACVlM or ABVP is highly desirable. Experience in food animal medicine and surgery is required. Experience with camelids is desirable.
