Our two doctor, mixed animal practice is seeking a third full-time associate to help us keep up with the growth our area has been experiencing.  We are happy to provide some mentorship, but would prefer an associate with at least a year of experience under their belt.  Our philosophy here is simple: we’re dedicated to offering quality service to our friends and neighbors and let the “Golden Rule” of treating others the way we want to be treated, guide our actions. We have both small and large animal facilities with top of the line equipment for both.  Our large animal facilities include a complete outdoor working facility including an alleyway, circle, holding pens, full-tub, W-W Hydraulic tilt-over Chute with digital scale (100lb – 3000lb cattle) and side exit.  Our large animal, enclosed hospital is 40 x 40 and features an obstetrical unit for calving, isolation unit, incubator, ultrasound, two portable chutes to take to the country – one is hydraulic, a calf cradle (able to fit on a portable table for ranch calls), two hydraulic chutes – One at each of the livestock auctions we attend (Monday and Thursday), fully equipped Ford Pickups with Brewer Vet Boxes and staff that allow us to practice great medicine.

Our decision to add an additional associate is a studied one, and we are confident that the market is ready for us to expand. We’re offering the right candidate an opportunity to practice great food animal medicine, while also dabbling in small animal work. Our caseload is about 25% small animal and 75% large animal. Our large animal work breaks down into about 20% stockers/backgrounders, 5-8% feedlot and the rest is cow/calf. Our average herd size is 130-140 head (up from about 60 head several years ago), and we also work two sale barns. Our practice “specialties” are: Repro work, Diagnostic investigation and problem solving on large herds and feed analysis to improve operations.

Our plan for a new veterinarian is to immerse him/her in all aspects of the practice as well as allow you to explore and grow your own areas of interest. Technical skills are important, especially in the area of palpation and breeding soundness, but soft skills such as communication are equally as critical. We can teach technical skills, but we can’t teach a passion for veterinary medicine and serving our clients.
