| Job Description | Animal Health Center of Marion Co. Inc. is a progressive 3+ veterinarian mixed animal practice in central Kansas, located on the west edge of the Flint Hills. Our time is split about 50/50 with beef cattle and small animal, but we also see some pleasure horse and small ruminant clients. The beef cattle side is about 75% cow-calf and 25% backgrounding. We have both fall and spring calving producers. Our clients are good to work with, ask us for input, especially on health and nutrition. We are seeing a growing need for reproductive services, and would like to get into embryo placements this year and more AI service. There is also a growing need for nutritional services. Our small animal services follow today's standards, with annual well exams, dentristry, on site radiology and ultrasound, isoflurane gas anesthesia, in house bloodwork. We also utilize KSU and Antech services for bloodwork that needs to be outsourced. We are on Avimark computer system, and are near paperless. We have a friendly staff, and work hard to emphasis cross-training. The practice has two facilities. The associate position will work in the north facility at Herington. There is also salebarn work on Wednesdays, but after July 1, 2008, it will be only cow and heifer preg checks for an afternoon. There are three veterinarians who share emergency duties between the two clinics. Our clients are happy with the arrangement, and small animal clients will take their pets to the clinic with the veterinarian on duty for emergencies, because we have been willing to see them. Thus, each veterinarian has 10 days a month on call. I provide a vet truck with box, cell phone, on site dsl internet. There is a $1000 allowance for CE and membership dues, and staff can enroll in a SIMPLE IRA after 6 months. There is the option to buy into the practice. This summer, we will be looking at the option for all of our staff to enroll into a health care plan. |
